Key function of position is to assist the Director of Nursing Services (DNS) in provision, planning, coordination or management of nursing care, nursing services and health education to nursing home residents. Assistant Director of Nursing assists in carrying out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organizational policies and applicable laws. Supervisory responsibilities include assigning resident care to nursing staff and directing as needed, training newly hired employees, and continually education staff. Other duties include the creation and management of nursing schedules. Requirements include Associate’s or Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited school of nursing, current licensure for Registered Nurse, and experience within the field of long term care.
Under the supervision of a Registered Nurse or Licensed Practical Nurse, a Certified Nursing Assistant performs various direct patient care activities in a long-term care environment. He/she assists patients in dressing or undressing, bathing, or eating, collecting non-invasive body fluid specimens or gathering vital signs, and aiding physicians and nursing staff members with procedures if needed. Nursing Assistants also Document patient interactions as needed. Requirements include a high school diploma and certification from an accredited nursing assistant program, a general understanding of standard concepts, practices, and procedures within a particular field, and the ability to perform a variety of tasks under general supervision.
